Fulfilling a favor and executing a business plan, Luke Dexter arrives at Dallas’ Sybarite Club for a one-night stand. He never imagined he’d come face to face with the woman he left behind a decade earlier.
Rebecca Rainier fell in love with Luke Dexter in high school and was crushed when he dumped her to join the Marines after 9/11. Set up on a 1Night Stand by her business partner, nothing could prepare Rebecca for who her date is.
Can Luke and Rebecca bridge the pain of a decade-long abandonment, in one cold Texas night?
INTERVIEW WITH HEATHER LONG
- Is there an inspiration behind why you chose writing?
I could never decide on what I
wanted to be when I grew up, as an author, I get to be everything.
- When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
I wanted to be an attorney, a
journalist, an astronaut, a cop, a spy, a soldier, a Marine, a pilot and so
much else. But reading opened doors to a million different worlds and writing
is my passport.
- Finish the sentence- one book I wish I had written is....
…Moon Called.
- What are your current literary works? Any sneak peaks?
Fevered Hearts - a paranormal western historical romance featuring
some sexy brothers, supernatural powers and sensational romances.
Forbidden Legacy - paranormal romance set in the contemporary world
as the Fae reveal themselves and ancient hatreds challenge the ménage
relationship between a Fae, a Wizard and the woman they both love.
The Fortunate Buddha - a romantic suspense series that are loosely
tied together by the common hunt for an icon that is said to bring great
fortune to those that touch it.
Always a Marine - This is my series of five sexy shorts from
Decadent as a part of their 1Night Stand line and I have to admit, I’m a little
bit in love with every Marine in the series.
- If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
The future. I want to see the next
several seasons of Vampire Diaries and the next Avengers movies (Thor, Captain
America, and Ironman as well as the team flicks!)
- Which topics would you like to explore in your future books (assuming there are more to come)?
I have a vampire series that I
would very much like to do, something of an epic, but I just haven’t had the
time yet for that one.
- Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
Because we all want a second
chance, but we don’t always get one and hope is something we need to keep close
to our hearts.
- Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
My daughter dances and has
danced for years. In the last few years she’s gotten very serious and wants to
make into her dance school’s highly competitive, highly exclusive dance
company. A year ago, when the invitations to audition went out, she didn’t get
one, even though she’d worked really hard. When I told her I was sorry, she
just gave me this game little smile and said “that’s okay, it just means I have
to work harder. Like you did. You didn’t give up and now you’re published. I
won’t give up and I’ll be a part of company.”
That made my year.
- What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Never, ever give up. Writing is
art, and art isn’t always appreciated by some people and it takes time to find
that magic combination of story, writing style and editor or agent who wants
it. But you can do it.
- If you could jump in to a book, and live in that world, which would it be?
Hard question. So many book
worlds are not pretty places to live. But I think if I could visit, for a
while, it would definitely be the Psy-Changeling world by Nalini Singh.
- If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?
Crap. Not again…
- What is your favorite scene in the book and why do you love it?
Hmm, in Once Her Man, Always Her Man, I think my favorite scenes were the
flashbacks…the reasons why they loved each other, those innocent days before
life got in the way. It reminds me of the soft light lens we often place over
our pasts.
- What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you'd be embarrassed to admit?
Very little embarrasses me. So
nope, can’t think of any that I’d be embarrassed to admit.
- What books do you most recommend to friends?
Patricia Briggs or Nalini Singh
-- every time.
- One food you would never eat?
Okra. BLEGH.
