Booking Through Thursday #1

Booking Through Thursday is a Thursday meme held on Booking Through Thursday.

Here is the question for Thursday:

Do you consider yourself an extrovert or an introvert?

Okay, I know what introvert is.  But, I just went to Google search and typed the words - 'introvert meaning', and the first link showed me the following:

Contrary to what most people think, an introvert is not simply a person who is shy. In fact, being shy has little to do with being an introvert! Shyness has an element of apprehension, nervousness and anxiety, and while an introvert may also be shy, introversion itself is not shyness. Basically, an introvert is a person who is energized by being alone and whose energy is drained by being around other people.

Introverts are more concerned with the inner world of the mind. They enjoy thinking, exploring their thoughts and feelings. They often avoid social situations because being around people drains their energy. This is true even if they have good social skills. After being with people for any length of time, such as at a party, they need time alone to "recharge."

This is what the first link had, when I typed in 'extrovert meaning' in Google search.

Most people believe that an extrovert is a person who is friendly and outgoing. While that may be true, that is not the true meaning of extroversion. Basically, an extrovert is a person who is energized by being around other people. This is the opposite of an introvert who is energized by being alone.

Extroverts tend to "fade" when alone and can easily become bored without other people around. When given the chance, an extrovert will talk with someone else rather than sit alone and think. In fact, extroverts tend to think as they speak, unlike introverts who are far more likely to think before they speak. Extroverts often think best when they are talking. Concepts just don't seem real to them unless they can talk about them; reflecting on them isn't enough.

So, according to this meaning, let me analyze where I fall under.

  • I am shy, and even if I don't show, nervous, with new people. - INTROVERT - But, they say shyness alone doesn't mean that the person is INTROVERT.
  • I always need some friends or family to be around with me to feel comfortable. - EXTROVERT
  • Almost 100% of the times, I speak as I think, which feels like the most normal thing to do for me. - EXTROVERT
  • Most of the times, I get great ideas, only when I explain them to someone else. - EXTROVERT
Wow, I never thought until now that I could be an EXTROVERT.  But, see..

I AM AN EXTROVERT!!!

So, what are you - an introvert or extrovert?

Dirty Little Secret #4

Dirty Little Secret is a weekly meme hosted by Under the Covers to know more about other bloggers and readers, by asking them a question hoping to reveal their dirty little secrets.

If you had 600 million dollars to spend,
what would be the first thing you bought?

Hmm, I will take my fiancee and buy a luxurious plane, leave my job and we will travel around the world for a year.  Then when I come back, I will give my parents and my fiancee's (I think he will be my husband by that time) parents some money, so that our dads need not go to work, and we all will live 'happily ever after'.  :)

What will you buy?

MY THOUGHTS:

To be honest, this is my friend's book and he gave it to me saying I will enjoy it.  But I just didn't pick it up for some insane reason and everytime I see this book on my shelf, I think that I should read it and tell my friend about it.  It just is sitting in my shelf still. :)

What do you have on your shelf for a long time?

Devil In Winter
(Wallflowers #3)

Author: Lisa Kleypas
Publisher: Avon Books
Publication Date: February 28th 2006
Paperback: 374 pages

BLURB:

A DEVIL'S BARGAIN

Easily the shyest Wallflower, Evangeline Jenner stands to become the wealthiest, once her inheritance comes due. Because she must first escape the clutches of her unscrupulous relatives, Evie has approached the rake Viscount St. Vincent with a most outrageous proposition: marriage!

Sebastian's reputation is so dangerous that thirty seconds alone with him will ruin any maiden's good name. Still, this bewitching chit appeared, unchaperoned, on his doorstep to offer her hand. Certainly an aristocrat with a fine eye for beauty could do far worse.

But Evie's proposal comes with a condition: no lovemaking after their wedding night. She will never become just another of the dashing libertine's callously discarded broken hearts --- which means Sebastian will simply have to work harder at his seductions ... or perhaps surrender his own heart for the very first time in the name of true love.

MY THOUGHTS:

I bought this book a month ago, after so many recommendations from my friends.  Why do I have not got time to read what I want to? :(  I want to read this one and the other book - When Beauty Tamed the Beast - for a long time.  I already accepted for book tours and reviews this month and am pretty occupied with all of that (and of course, also occupied with my profession).

I just hope I have more time to read (sighs)..

I think most of you would have read this or put in your wishlist.  So, what do you think about this book?  And do you have any dusty reads that you want to share?

The Lucky One

Author: Nicholas Sparks
First Published: 2008

Goodreads Synopsis:

In his 14th book, bestselling author Nicholas Sparks tells the unforgettable story of a man whose brushes with death lead him to the love of his life.

After U.S. Marine Logan Thibault finds a photograph of a smiling young woman buried in the dirt during his tour of duty in Iraq, he experiences a sudden streak of luck -- winning poker games and even surviving deadly combat. Only his best friend, Victor, seems to have an explanation for his good fortune: the photograph -- his lucky charm.

Back home in Colorado, Thibault can't seem to get the woman in the photograph out of his mind and he sets out on a journey across the country to find her. But Thibault is caught off guard by the strong attraction he feels for the woman he encounters in North Carolina - Elizabeth, a divorced mother -- and he keeps the story of the photo, and his luck, a secret. As he and Elizabeth embark upon a passionate love affair, his secret soon threatens to tear them apart -- destroying not only their love, but also their lives.

Filled with tender romance and terrific suspense, THE LUCKY ONE is an unforgettable story about the surprising paths our lives often take and the power of fate to guide us to true and everlasting love.

My Thoughts:

After reading some of the Sparks' books, I bought all of his books a few months ago.  So, many of them are still dusty.. :)  I have to read them though..sometime.  Believe me, when I say I have no intention of making these books dusty..I just have other books that I "have to" read.

Many of you would have known this feeling.  You would have bought a book, because you want to read.  And then the other books come, and you just don't find time to read the old ones.  Share with me..bring back those memories, so that we will remember and read it soon. :)

The Kite Runner

Author: Khaled Hosseini
Published Date: 2004
Publisher: Bloomsbury

Goodreads Synopsis:

The Kite Runner of Khaled Hosseini's deeply moving fiction debut is an illiterate Afghan boy with an uncanny instinct for predicting exactly where a downed kite will land. Growing up in the city of Kabul in the early 1970s, Hassan was narrator Amir's closest friend even though the loyal 11-year-old with "a face like a Chinese doll" was the son of Amir's father's servant and a member of Afghanistan's despised Hazara minority. But in 1975, on the day of Kabul's annual kite-fighting tournament, something unspeakable happened between the two boys.

My Thoughts:

Dusty?  Yeah very, I bought this book a year ago.  And I have heard so much good things about this book..but, can't drag myself to start reading that book.  Maybe, one day after reading this book, I will kick myself for not reading it sooner. ;-)

Do you have such kicking yourself experience, because for some strange reason, you have waited to pick a particular book for so long?
