Jan Weston is boy crazy, emphasis on crazy, but when "the one" breaks her heart she vows to change. Jan quits dating and takes a hard look at herself, discovering that she does not like the flawed, spoiled individual she sees in the mirror.
Her progress toward positive change is derailed when her mother discovers she dropped out of San Diego State University to attend massage therapy school. Furious at being lied to, Mrs. Weston cuts Jan off. Now Jan is without a guy, her American Express card, and a way to pay for school. She has to do something so despicable, so vile, so cruel, she almost cannot imagine it: Jan has to get a job.
But maybe that is exactly what she needs? Jan is forced to change how she treats people and to reconsider her values. Through a "comedy of errors" and with the support of her real friends (plus the hottie from massage school) Jan is able to survive, barely. But can she really change or is she just between boyfriends?
Tell us something about your book that is not part of the book description (blurb).
Between Boyfriends is an exploratory look at why women jump into relationships and the unrealistic expectations that bring them misery.
Who is your book cover designer and what do YOU think about the cover?
I bought the images for the cover and came up with the design, but my awesome, very talented friend Irina Hale put the cover together. I love the cover. I have a completely different idea for a cover for a print book though.
What are your current literary works? Any sneak peaks?
Between Boyfriends is the only book I have finished so far, but I am hard at work on the sequel. I also have begun writing a stand alone chick lit book about a girl who gets caught in Paris in search of something precious. I started writing a fantasy novel in junior high that I hope to finish one day. I also have a fantasy short story that I have yet to publish but has been getting great feedback from readers. I plan on expanding it into a novel.
What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
I am seriously behind in my reading. I am looking forward to reading Catching Fire, book 2 of The Hunger Games trilogy. I can't wait for the movie too. JK Rowling just released a new novel, for adults apparently. I am looking forward to reading that. She is an amazing writer. I am also really looking forward to Notorious Nineteen by Janet Evanovich.
If you could invite any 5 people to dinner who would you choose?
Usually these questions say “living or dead,” but if we are just talking about people who are alive, I would invite Leonardo DiCaprio, Katharine Sands, Steven Hawking, Mariah Carey, and President Obama. If we are allowed to include dead people, then I would invite Michael Jackson and no one else so I could have him all to myself.
What's the craziest writing idea you've had?
People thought it was pretty crazy that I decided to set the Between Boyfriends in Thailand and then I actually went there for a month for “research.”
Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
As one reviewer put it, Between Boyfriends is a cozy book that will make you laugh and make you think.
Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
I feel really good when people tell me that they learned something about themselves from reading my book. Between Boyfriends is not meant to be a self-help book and I am certainly not a therapist, but I wrote it with the intention of inspiring people to change, or at least question some of their choices and priorities.
What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Learn everything you can about promotion and marketing. Even the most amazingly talented authors may never be have their books read simply because they do not know how to promote their work.
If you could jump in to a book, and live in that world, which would it be?
If I had the power to jump into a book and live in that world, I would prefer to write one. I would write a book where everyone learns to be happy, giving and to reach their full potential. I would write a book where all life was respected, where animals were not exploited, and where our planet was treated with the respect it deserves.
If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?
Work in Progress
What is your favorite scene in the book and why do you love it?
My favorite scene in the book is when Jan confronts her parents. It is not perfect. Everything does not get fixed instantly, but the scene is realistic and many problems are addressed. Jan learns things she really needs to know. It is a turning point in Jan's life and after reading an entire book about a girl who is lost and who is trying to change, it is nice to see some progress and direction.
What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you'd be embarrassed to admit?
America's Next Top Model
What is one book everyone should read (apart from yours)?
The Celestine Prophecy
What is your favorite way to spend a rainy day?
It may sound cliché, but my favorite way to spend a rainy day is curled up on a couch with a blanket, my dogs and a good book. I also enjoy curling up on a couch with my boyfriend, some hot tea and a good movie.
Anyone who wants a FREE copy of the book can get one on Amazon or Amazon UK November 2.

That's 2013 :) My novel was recently #9 on Amazon's best seller list for humorous fiction. It stayed on the list for 3 days and also hit #11 on humor ebooks and #52 on women's fiction. East County Magazine called Between Boyfriends "the ultimate chick-lit read." Please hop over and enter the contest. 22 winners means great odds :) And if you're hesitant about entering blog giveaways, we're using Rafflecopter to pick the winners, a completely unbiased third party. Also, Vidya of Books Are Magic won an iPod through our site. See the post about her win :) http://www.betweenboyfriendsblog.com/2013/03/22-people-will-win-copy-of-taylor.html
