In Love Beyond Sanity, Eden Roan awoke in a mental hospital, unsure of how she got there. Nearly discovered by a demon, she is rescued by a voice in her mind who saves her life by transforming her figure into something the demon doesn't want to look at.  The voice tells her she is his but that they will never, ever meet.  As time progresses, Eden becomes more and more convinced that the voice is just her imagination playing tricks on her.  It can't possibly be her destined soul mate.
Or can it?

Samuel Quinn was horribly disfigured by the demon when he was a child. He can't stand looking at himself and does not want Eden to see him. Luckily, his powers allow him to hide himself using other people's features as his own.  But when Eden needs him, Samuel will have to step forward to save her even if he can never let her see the real him.

Can there be love without sight? Or will the demon finally have them all just where he wants them?

REVIEW

I wish I had known about this series long before.  I love the world of the Outsiders series so much.

Every outsider has a unique power to save the human race from demons.  Eden Roan is a outsider, with a gift of prophecy.  But, Eden cannot control her gift and passes out every time she gets a vision. Eden was treated as a child or an imbecile by other outsiders.  In addition to this, Eden's soul mate do not wish to meet her, but he speaks to her in her head.  The demon, who is chasing them, is also in her head to make her insane, and he tells her that he has killed her soul mate, when he was 12 years old.  Eden is not so sure about anything anymore, even with the gift of prophecy.

Samuel Quinn was almost killed, when he was 12.  He was burnt inside a locked closet by a demon, but by some miracle he escaped.  But, he lost his normal face and even his parents cannot see his scarred features.  But, being an outsider, Samuel have the power of changing his features to someone else, with a just touch of that person.  So, he hides his scarred face behind the new faces and he is afraid to go near Eden, his soul mate, because of this.

The main plot was amazing.  I didn't read the others in the series, so I took some time to really understand the world for some time.  The story is like to old grandmothers - start with a simple plot and improvise it as you go.  And the author has done just that, improvised a simple plot and she had done that great.  The story of Eden and Samuel is like seeing a dream - their love towards one another is breath-taking.

There are many sub-plots and the older stories re-touched.  Some new ones are quite confusing - like that guy who can see ghosts and in the middle of nowhere, someone appears and says that he is his twin.  But, to say the truth, I clearly enjoyed the whole novel, once I got the hang of what's going on.

An amazing romance and fantasy novel!

  2. thank you rebecca for writing a book on how physical appearances doesnt mean everything! i m in high school and had previously a car accident that left my left hand scarred badly, i can relate with sameul of how people judge appearances very quickly, i have grown to appreciate my scar as the journey i went through, but still people are quite shallow in thinking that a scar is the most hideous thing.
so again thank you for writing about such an important subject that must be discussed among young adults!!!
thanks for the chance to read this book, i m definitely interested now to read it :D
