GUEST POST

Books have always been magical for me. I remember when I was little, the excitement I’d get over a new book. When I was a teen, I’d put some music on and start reading. Before I knew it, I had missed my favorite song. No idea why I thought listening to music while reading would work. I always got too caught up in the story and the music faded into the background. As an adult, I still get lost in books. I’ve missed appointments, skipped out on visiting friends, and spend all day reading because I could not put the book down.

I can be the same with my writing. I get so focused that the world around me disappears. Not even Twitter can distract me, and we all know how much of a time suck Twitter can be. All I see is my characters and the world I created. It is a magical feeling that rivals the feeling of opening a new book. Hopefully, when I finish my story and publish it, readers will get the same magical feeling.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Patricia Lynne never set out to become a writer, and in fact, never considered it an option during high school and college. But some stories are meant to be told and this one chose her. Patricia lives with her husband in Michigan, hopes one day to have what will resemble a small petting zoo and has a fondness for dying her hair the colors of the rainbow.

AUTHOR BIO

I don't remember when exactly it happened, maybe while my husband was in college. I had a dream one night (and I always feel like I'm ripping off Stephenie Meyers when I say this but it's the truth) and in it there was this girl and a vampire, and the cast of True Blood was trying to keep them apart. I woke with the urge to write it - although not the True Blood part. So I did. As I went, I wasn't quite sure where it was going but that didn't deter me. I kept typing along and eventually I figured out who wanted to keep Kris and Kristen apart. After that another story came to me. Then another. And another. I couldn't stop and before I knew it I had a file for writing filled with stories - not all of them finished. I've been writing ever since. The characters in my head fight for attention and sometimes I wish I had more hands and a few computers to type it all down. Hopefully people will enjoy them as much as I do.
