Author: Zoe Winters
Publisher: Incubooks
Release Date: June 6th 2012
Genre: Paranormal Romance

It started with one lost, shivering pup; it may end in a war...

Panthers don’t do responsibility. They don’t do long-term relationships. They definitely don’t raise kids. But when Z discovers a young wolf in the forest, he takes him in, unaware of the powerful beings hunting the pup.

Fiona is a witch who can’t leave her house; the birds have told her something bad will happen. The mailbox is as far as she’ll go, but even that may provide more danger than she’s bargained for. When a wolf pup stumbles into her garden, her safe, wrapped-up world heads for a free fall.

But along with danger, the pup brings a chance at love—a chance an agoraphobic witch and a bachelor panther shifter aren’t likely to find on their own.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: The Catalyst is an ensemble book that also features Jane and Cole (from Blood Lust) and Cain (from Blood Lust and Save My Soul)

REVIEW

It started with a witch, Fiona, who have agorophobia.  She never leaves steps out of her house due to this fear and is afraid to learn magic, fearing that it may have leave some trail.  The only natural magical ability she possesses is to speak with animals and know their feelings.  When she sees a werewolf puppy, looking lost, in her garden, she goes and picks it up and feeds him, in spite of her fear.  All of a sudden, a were-panther suddenly breaks through her window and tries to hurt her.  When she reads the panther's mind, she understands that he thinks that she is trying to harm the pup.  She manages to convey the message that she is just feeding a lost pup.  The were-panther introduces himself as Z, and asks her help in taking care of the pup.  When she refuses, he kidnaps her and takes her to his cave.  All hell breaks lose, when Fiona loses that pup.

How are they going to find the pup? Will Fiona ever get over her fears and get on with life?  Is Z finally going to be ready to love someone and be committed to her?  How will Z and Fiona convince the pup's parents, when they come for him?

First, I loved the males in this novel - just WOW.  Second, the story is fast paced.  Third, I loved to read about other preternaturals (paranormals), having not read the first two books yet.  Fourth, I love her writing..this is my second book from Zoe and I loved her way of writing in both the books.

Negatives: Fiona - I DON'T like that girl.  She is so whiny and always keeps crying.  I love my heroines to be strong or at the least get strong in their journey of life.  Nope, this girl keeps crying from start to finish.  If she hadn't possessed that one natural magic of speaking with animals, there is nothing interesting about her.  Weak!

But, the other female, the author bring in (don't want to break that suspense for you), well, she is good.  Tough and kind - I could like that combination.  Except for Fiona, I loved all the other characters.  The pup, Cain, Cole and other pack members were just so apt for the novel.  The plot was not strong, but if you just want some action and drama in the novel, you will love it.

Dramatic!  But, with excellent alpha males! ;-)

  2. When I hear the name Fiona, I think STRONG female characters (think Fiona on Burn Notice or in Shrek). I would not care for a whiny Fiona!
